A couple of weeks ago, I mentioned I was working on a redesign of the Aldis Corporation website. As of this afternoon, their new site is live: www.aldiscorp.com. (If you happen to notice any errors with the site, please let me know in the comments for this post. Be sure to include any pertinent URLs. Thanks!)
Weekend full moon the biggest in about 20 years – CNN.com
Be sure to get a look at the moon this weekend:
Saturday’s full moon will be a super “perigee moon” — the biggest in almost 20 years. This celestial event is far rarer than the famed blue moon, which happens once about every two-and-a-half years.
With the last perigee full moon occuring in March of 1993, NASA comments:
“Nearby perigee moons are about 14% bigger and 30% brighter than lesser moons that occur on the apogee side of the moon’s orbit.”

One gmail, many email addresses | creativebits
Ivan over at CreativeBits reminded me of a handy Gmail feature: One Gmail, Many Email Addresses. If you’ve got a Gmail account, you can add extra periods or capitalize any of the letters, and emails sent to those permutations will still reach your inbox.
For example, let’s say your address is johndoe@gmail.com. You could reach that inbox via:
- john.doe@gmail.com
- jo.hndoe@gmail.com
- j.o.h.n.d.o.e.@gmail.com
For more details on this feature, check out Ivan’s post.
New Text Messaging Provider Added: Boost Mobile
I was going through my “starred” emails and I noticed that one of my readers had requested that I add Boost Mobile to my text messaging form. Well, I’m late in getting to it, but as of today, you can now send texts to Boost Mobile subscribers via my online form.
Additionally, I’m rather intrigued by Boost Mobile’s text messaging specs. Their service allows for 500 character text messages. What’s more, you can add a replies section to your texts that allows recipients to reply to a list of options you provide.

The Sewing Machine Project Featured in The Capital Times (Madison, WI)
The Sewing Machine Project (SMP) was first conceived after the Southeast Asia tsunami in 2005. Margaret Jankowski, founder of SMP, heard of a woman’s story about losing her sewing machine and means of making an income, and she realized she might be able to help. Since that time, Margaret has organized missions to help persons in New Orleans, Sir Lanka and soon Kosovo.
When she was first getting things started, one of my clients donated funds which Margaret used to hire me to build her website. This week, The Sewing Machine Project and Margaret’s work is featured in an article which appears in The Capital Times of Madision, Wisconsin.
