Track Your MPG with Twitter and Fuelfrog

Back in April of this year, fellow Knoxvillian Casey Peters inspired me to start tracking my gas mileage. At the time, Casey mentioned that he kept his stats using a plain old pencil and paper. Later he would enter those details into Excel. On the other hand, I was looking for something more convenient. Enter Fuelfrog. Using Twitter, you can text message your gas stats to Fuelfrog each time you fill up.

To use Fuelfrog to track your gas stats:

  1. Get a Twitter account.
  2. Setup a Fuelfrog account.
  3. Each time you fill-up, “tweet” @fuelfrog with your miles, price per gallon and gallons. They make it easy to remember the format because it follows the accronym MPG.

Once you start entering your stats, Fuelfrog will record your data and start building a graph tracking your fuel consumption:

Additionally, you’ll also have a nice table of each of your fill-ups:
