Clover Closeup

Prior to the 1940s and 50s, clover was a common component of yard grass seed mixes. It serves to enrich a lawn’s soil with much needed nitrogen. However, it was at that time that seed producers decided to market clover as a weed. This in turn created a market for lawn fertilizers which add nitrogen to the soil due to the loss of clover. Fortunately, the clover in my yard is doing fine. ;)
