I have a secret to confess: I haven’t used business cards for the past three and a half years. There have been times when a business card would have come in handy; however, I’ve been able to get by without them. I’ll simply exchange email addresses whenever I meet a new friend or business contact. So given my modus operandi, the first time I heard about myDropcard.com‘s digital business cards, I was sold on the idea.
The Concept
I agree with the developers behind Dropcard when they say that business cards’ biggest drawbacks are that people will lose them, can’t save them, and can’t click on them. However, sending an email with all your contact information gets around this problem.
Imagine you’re at a party and you meet a potential business contact. Giving them your digital Dropcard is as easy as sending a text message to the Dropcard service. Once you’re done, Dropcard will send you a text receipt confirming your action, and your new contact will have an email with your contact information waiting in their inbox:
