I’ve heard they are going to create two movies based on “The Hobbit”. Do you know about it?

Yes I have heard that. In fact, the article I linked to says:

The two “Hobbit” films – “The Hobbit” and its sequel – are scheduled to be shot simultaneously, with pre-production beginning as soon as possible. Principal photography is tentatively set for a 2009 start, with the intention of “The Hobbit” release slated for 2010 and its sequel the following year, in 2011.

The other day I was speculating with my brother as to how they might do this. Our primary concern was that they wouldn’t be able to come up with any material for a sequel which would be up to Tolkien standards. So, we were thinking that they might possibly take the material in The Hobbit and create the two movies from it. It seems as though I remember a natural division in the novel.
